Reiki healing is a gentle yet powerful practice that channels universal life force energy to support balance and well-being. Rooted in ancient traditions and rediscovered by Dr. Usui, Reiki helps clear energetic blockages and encourages the body’s natural healing process. During a session, the practitioner places their hands lightly on or above the body, allowing Reiki to support deep relaxation, emotional release, and stress reduction. This process, called entrainment, can help the body’s energy align with higher vibrations, offering a natural and supportive path toward healing.
Sound healing is an ancient practice that uses vibration to support harmony in the body. Every organ, bone, and cell has its own frequency, and when these fall out of sync, imbalance can occur. By introducing sound at specific frequencies, the body’s natural resonance may be encouraged to realign, supporting healing. This process, known as entrainment, can shift brainwaves into states of rest and repair. Sound healing may ease stress, support sleep, and encourage emotional release. Through these gentle vibrations, it invites balance, clarity, and renewal.
Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that supports the flow of Qi, blood, and fluids throughout the body. More than a beauty trend or lymphatic drainage, it is a centuries-old practice that can help address internal imbalances and encourage holistic well-being. Unlike massage, which uses kneading or circular motions, Gua Sha involves intentional, one-directional strokes with a smooth tool along specific areas. These strokes reach the muscle layer, helping release tension and relax tight fascia. Gua Sha helps calm the nervous system, supports skin health, and enhances circulation.
Are you registered TCM practitioners?
At The Healing Room, our Gua Sha offerings follow traditional Chinese medicine techniques. However, we are not registered TCM practitioners. Our study of Gua Sha has been guided by a reputable TCM expert, and we approach this treatment with deep respect for its origins. Please note that these offerings are not clinical or medical services, but a gentle beauty and wellness ritual designed to support relaxation and energetic balance.
Why use Bian stone in Gua Sha?
Bian stone tools are used in our Gua Sha treatments due to their rich history in traditional Chinese medicine, dating back over 2,500 years. Formed from volcanic rock, Bian stone contains over 40 trace minerals, which support skin health and detoxification. Due to its thermal conductivity and ability to store heat, Bian stone, when glided on the skin, stimulates circulation and helps promote the flow of Qi.
Is Gua Sha facial sculpting?
No. Gua Sha is often mistaken for facial sculpting or lymphatic drainage. At The Healing Room, we follow traditional Chinese medicine techniques focused on relaxation, increased blood flow, and balancing Qi (energy). We use light pressure and intentional strokes rather than firm pressure on the face. You’ll leave feeling less puffy and more radiant, as gentle lymphatic drainage naturally occurs with correct Gua Sha technique. You can learn more about common Gua Sha misconceptions here.
What can I expect during an energy healing?
Each session is unique, but generally, you will be guided into a state of relaxation through meditation or breathwork. Whether you are receiving Reiki, sound healing, or a combination of both, the session is designed to help you unwind and restore balance. You may experience warmth, tingling, deep rest, or emotional release, all of which are natural responses to energy work.
You may like to bring a water bottle, warm clothing, and a journal for any notes or reflections. For your comfort, cushions, blankets, and an eye pillow will be provided.
Do I need to have experience with meditation or energy healing?
Not at all. Sessions are designed for both beginners and those familiar with energy healing practices. Simply arrive with an open mind and allow yourself to relax.
How often should I receive energy healing?
This depends on your needs. Some people benefit from weekly or monthly sessions, while others come when they feel drawn to it. Trust your intuition and listen to what your body needs.
What if I fall asleep during an energy healing?
Falling asleep is completely normal and often a sign that your body is deeply relaxing and receiving the healing energy it needs. The benefits of the session still integrate whether you are awake or asleep.
